Awards & Community Outreach

Recognizing Outstanding Service

Sadlier is committed to Catholic education—not only in our publishing efforts, but in many other aspects. Each year, we recognize people for their service to Catholic education and support organizations in various ways. Here are some highlights.

F. Sadlier Dinger Award

F. Sadlier Dinger, grandson of William H. Sadlier, the former Sadlier Chairman of the Board, and father of the current Chairman of the Board, deeply loved the Church and demonstrated this with his unwavering personal and professional support of Catholic schools. Since 1980, this award named for him has recognized two people each year whose outstanding leadership and achievements have advanced Catholic education or catechetical ministry.

William Sadlier Dinger Award

The William Sadlier Dinger Award honors and recognizes a person for outstanding work in nurturing the Word of God within the Latino community. The name of the award recognizes William Dinger's early and constant commitment to catechesis in the Latino community.

Maria Cruz Scholarship

Named after Sr. Maria de la Cruz Aymes, SH, through the generosity of William H. Sadlier, Inc., this scholarship is given to a DCL serving catechesis with Hispanics.

  • 2017 Recipient—Alba Orozco, Jacksonville, FL

Sister Rose Anita McDonnell, IHM Award

Initiated in 1994, named for a renowned math educator, and the “guiding light” behind Sadlier’s Progress in Mathematics series, this award recognizes an outstanding educator who possesses a true love of mathematics and challenges students to excel in math.

Catholic Identity Award

First awarded in 1998, this award honors a school or parish that demonstrates effectively and clearly our identity as a Catholic people. Recipients are identified by the host diocese of the NCEA convention.

Supporting the Future

Sadlier is proud of our partnership with Cristo Rey New York High School (CRNYHS). As part of their Corporate Work Study Program, CRNYHS students work in Sadlier’s New York office, gaining real-world, corporate experience. But they aren’t the only ones who benefit. Sadlier employees are supported by energetic young adults who bring a fresh perspective to our work.

Part of the Cristo Rey Network, CRNYHS provides an affordable alternative for urban families who seek a small, Catholic, college-preparatory school for their children. It combines quality education and real-life work experience that are designed to prepare students for college and successful careers. Sadlier is a founding corporate partner, participating in the Corporate Work Study Program since the school’s inception in 2004.

William H. Sadlier, Inc. is a proud partner of  National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) on a national level and a supporter of local Catholic Schools through contributions to the Inner-City Scholarship Fund which provides tuition assistance to underprivileged students attending Catholic schools in Archdiocese of New York. The Inner-City exists to ensure that the gift of an excellent Catholic school education continues to be a viable option for students of all faiths. Learn more.
