Vocabulary Activity: Vocabulary Pumpkin Patch, Grades 1–12

Pumpkins-to me no vegetable has more connotations associated with it. Pumpkins remind me of Fall and Halloween and Thanksgiving and pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds and pumpkin lattes…I could go on and on!

Who wouldn't love writing little pumpkin phrases on little paper pumpkins? With the Pumpkin Patch Vocabulary Activity students are encouraged to write pumpkin phrases that are alliterative, or use a pun, or play with similes- any specific literary technique that you want. As always, these descriptions should include as many vocabulary words as possible!

I hope pumpkins have positive connotations for your students as well, which is why I thought that it would be fun to write little pumpkin phrases on little paper pumpkins. I would encourage these phrases to be alliterative, or use a pun, or play with similes-any specific literary technique that you want to hone in your class. As always, these descriptions should include as many vocabulary words as possible-my minimum would be three.

Hopefully your students can enjoy a few minutes of pumpkin/fall/holiday writing. When completed, have your kids hang them up and then share pictures of your pumpkin patches!
