Sadlier Math Success Stories

I enjoy teaching math.  The teachers edition is easy to follow, the definitions and rules are clearly presented, and there are enough problems to use for practice, homework, and re-enforcement.  The series makes teaching algebra fun.

I like after a few lessons there are a review.  In the old books there was a chapter review at the end of the chapter.  I like the idea of assessing the students a couple of times during the unit instead of assessing the students at the end of the unit.

I find the program provides many math issues that are challenging to young children.  There is a consistency from grade to grade; then algebraic functions included ; the problem-solving involves around lessons that apply to the children’s life experiences; and vocabulary development and sufficient assessment are properly provided.  I am, especially, impressed with the problem solving techniques-like Guess & Test and the 4 basic subtraction concepts that are presented before subtraction regrouping in Grade 3.  I really enjoy teaching math again!

As an assistant principal I hear the experienced and the novice/beginner teachers speak very highly of the Sadlier, Progress in Mathematics program.  Each lesson is aligned with the California standards and gives the teachers several strategies to introduce each concept.  The teachers are very pleased with the lesson format used in the book with introductory examples, guided practice session independent pages and review pages.  We finally have a program both teachers and students enjoy very much!

The Sadlier Math Progress in Mathematics Program in excellent!  I believe each lesson is very thorough, and introduces each concept with new vocabulary and strategies, while reviewing and reinforcing concepts already taught.  It challenges the students and ensures mastery of skills.  Students love this program too!

I really enjoy teaching Sadlier’s Progress in Mathematics.  It’s really challenging for the students.  I like the way it introduces the skill and gives several opportunities to practice the skills that are introduces.  The skills are carried over to each grade and the concepts are reputedly reinforced each year.

The second graders echo, “WE Love Math!” As a teacher, Progress in Mathematics by Sadlier helps me to meet the California standards and to plan my daily math lessons thoroughly.  Each lesson provides readiness through an introductory example and follows through with a colorful model of the concept introduced.  The guided practice and independent practice pages are beneficial to reinforce and review the skills.  The students are learning algebra and conceptual thinking with several opportunities for review and assessment.

Marylyn McDonald asked if I would write a brief testimonial about the Progress Math series.  I cannot write a brief note because the series has so many great ideas, hands on activities and concepts in one place….

This is my 47th year of teaching in a Catholic school and I have implemented Sadlier’s Progress Math Program for the last 31 years in all of them.  I have taught in many Dioceses on the east coast and I insisted that we use your program.  You have met the Catholic standards along with the state standards in every state that I was associated with.

There have been many times where my school could not afford your product, but somehow we have always found a way to use your product.  Teaching math to a class is done on many levels and the materials and advice on how to reach every child’s need.  The testing method in Progress Math Series is great; and the teachers’ manual is full of wonderful information for all teachers (1st year to 47th year).  The resource on line are awesome.  Thank you for all the extra practices you have provided.  The teacher’s manual is written in a way that is non-threating to the teacher.

If there is anything else I can do, please let me know.  I wish I could go around to the various schools and talk about your product.

I hope one day you will publish a Pre-Algebra and Algebra Math series.

Teachers appreciate the option to choose from the many suggested activities, those that fit their own teaching style.

They find the background information for each lesson a great review of their Catholic faith, as they prepare to teach.

Comment from one of our teachers on an evaluation form “the text is fabulous. It gives me 200% of what I need for class so I can pick and choose what works.”

Presently we are using the Progress in Math Series in k-8.  After many years of teaching math, I believe that this series is not only interesting to the children but also through in its explanations and presentation of problems.  Each lesson provides many varied problems to meet differentiated learning styles.  The accompanying workbook also has diverse problems with explanations at the top of the page which students find very helpful.  The students have stated that math is more interesting with this series and even fun especially when using all the manipulatives.

Teachers like the clear explanations and thorough lesson plans for each lesson.  There are enough exercises and we find we don not have to run off supplementary materials to reinforce this program as we have had to do with other series.  The web page has also been very helpful to both teachers and students.  There is a commitment form the Sadlier Company to support the program.  We have found the representatives of Sadlier to be extremely helpful even after the books were purchased.  I strongly recommend Sadlier Progress in Math Series.

I really love the Sadlier Math Series.  I find it to be very well organized and it has a lot of practice materials.  I am especially happy with the “challenge” and “math journal” portions that can be found on most daily pages.  These pages are very usedul for those children that always finish early.  Another wonderful feature of the series is the frequent check up pages that can be used for a quick reference to see where children are weak or in need of extra help.  In addition to the chapter tests that are included in the book, there is a cumulative review assessment after each chapter test.  This si very usedul and it allows for a review of all pertinent content areas that have been covered throughout the year.

I have just become familiar with the website and I think it’s an excellent tool for children and their parents.  I am very pleased with the series as a whole.  I find it to be very teacher friendly.

Bay Haven Charter Academy has been one of the top performing elementary schools in math performance the State of Florida for several years, but something was missing.  Our faculty spent months reviewing a myriad of publishers and specifically selected Sadlier-Oxford.  Pretty smart choice!  Our FCAT scores soared.  98% of our 100 3rd grade students scored a 3 or better on the FCAT.  The overall state achievement level shows 74% of all 3rd grade students scoring a 3 or better.  I, of course recommend Sadlier-Oxford.

Bay Haven Charter Academy meticulously selected Sadlier-Oxford for elementary math.  The flexibility and progressive instructional model articulated beautifully for our K-5 teachers.  The students have excelled and that is what counts the most.

Our selection of Sadlier-Oxford curriculum for mathematics at Bay Haven Charter Academy has been validated.  Our student’s test scores are among the highest in the state and the teachers have enjoyed the quality of the materials.  The best part is the support we have received from our representative and the implementation support staff.

Wow! What a spectacular year for Bay Haven Charter Academy in math performance. 100% of our third grade students scored a 3.5 or better in math this year. We did equally well in all grades which we attribute to the switch to the Sadlier-Oxford math curriculum. The curriculum in flexible and teacher friendly. The best part is how the instructional content builds a strong foundation for what students definitely need to know for middle school Algebra and geometry. The curriculum is very well articulated.

At St. Cecilia School in Philadelphia we have been using the Sadlier Math Program for many years. It meets the needs of all our students: the very bright child as well as those who struggle. Each up date brings new challenges, it meets the new curriculum.
